My personal projects are where I let my creativity flow and challenge myself to grow as an artist. These projects allow me to experiment with new techniques, discover fresh perspectives, and find inspiration that I bring to every session with my clients. They keep my passion alive and help me continually refine my skills. The creativity and growth that come from personal projects push me to think outside the box, ensuring that the photos I deliver are not only professional but also deeply personal and meaningful. I love sharing my personal projects with others—if one sparks an idea or resonates with you, let me know! I'm always excited to collaborate and bring new visions to life.

Motherhood

When it’s just you and your mom, the relationship often evolves into something deeper than parent and child. That closeness gave me a deep appreciation for loyalty and unconditional love. In every moment that mattered, even in the small, quiet ones, she was there. She isn’t just my parent; she’s my lifeline. When given the opportunity to present a project of my own choosing, I chose to present life with a single mom. I substituted my mom and me with my lovely cousin, a mom of three, to photograph a life in the day. I then went back the following two years to capture the growth and changes in not only the relationship she has with her children, but also how they have aged and changed in behavior. This isn’t just a project for me—it’s a way to say thank you to the person who shaped me into who I am today. My goal is to create something that feels deeply personal and universally inspiring. I hope these images resonate with others who can relate.

Burst of Color

I’ve always loved working in natural light, for the most authentic feel in my photos, but stepping into the studio for the first time taught me the power of complete control over light. In the studio, I have the freedom to shape light exactly how I want, from its intensity to direction and color. I especially enjoyed working with colored gels to transform my images. When translating colors into monochrome, their effects are determined by brightness values rather than hues. A subject's perceived emotion can shift based on the dominant tone, making these photos evoke stronger emotions from the viewer. Working in a studio greatly improved my understanding of lighting and allowed me to freely push boundaries in my own work.

Eclipse

I was lucky enough to experience the 2024 total solar eclipse from Brockport, New York. The sudden change of light and temperature in the middle of the day was truly breathtaking. As an alternative to taking picture of the actual solar event, I put my own twist on the eclipse and transformed my two models into the sun and moon. I used differently techniques, like a spotlight and a backlight, to try to recreate how to sun and the moon interact. This is another example of how shaping light can create different moods and sensation through images.
